A Boy Scouts den mother is speaking out after being ousted from her role because she is a lesbian.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is speaking out in support of Ohio resident Jennifer Tyrrell, who was forced to resign last week as den leader of her son's Tiger Scout chapter due to her sexual orientation. Read more »

My name is Stephanie Shields, I am Maria DeNicola's daughter and have been around Electrolysis and skin care my entire life. In 2003, while only a junior in high school, I became fully trained as an Electrologist and has been treating clients ever since. After graduating from high school as class Valedictorian in 2003 I obtained my certification as a Laser Specialist from the Rocky Mountain College. While growing up in the offices of Arizona Laser, Electrolysis & Skin Care, I learned early on to be a professional yet caring technician (which is exactly what our clients want and need). Court extends stay on 'don't ask' ruling

Associated Press Tuesday, November 2, 2010

A federal appeals court in San Francisco has indefinitely extended its freeze on a judge's order halting enforcement of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Monday's decision by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit means gay Americans who disclose their sexual orientation still cannot enlist in the armed forces and can be discharged.

The panel granted the government's request for a stay while it challenges the trial court's ruling that the ban on openly gay service members is unconstitutional. Read more »

Legislation from Senator Robert Menendez Includes Uniting American Families Act

Washington, DC – The Immigration Equality Action Fund today hailed the introduction of a comprehensive immigration reform bill in the Senate, by Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), which includes the Uniting American Families Act (UAFA), a measure to end discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender immigrant families. 

“The Immigration Equality Action Fund welcomes Senator Menendez’s inclusive legislation, and calls on Congress to pass comprehensive reform, and fix our broken immigration system, immediately,” said Rachel B. Tiven, the group’s executive director.  “This new bill includes numerous, positive developments for LGBT immigrants, including UAFA, the DREAM Act and a pathway to citizenship.  All three components are important to ensuring that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender immigrants are able to contribute fully to our country while keeping their families together. The LGBT community must press for the passage of Senator Menendez’s bill, and call on our allies in Congress to support the legislation.  This legislation will finally end the obstacles so many families – both gay and straight – struggle with every day.”
